The Wizards of the Aus Review

Now one of the great things about my job is that I get to see new shows and tell you about it. A few days ago I stumbled on to the trailer of “The Wizards of Aus”and I couldn’t wait to see the series. It is a six part web series. It is a show created by Micheal Shanks and it is one of the most creative shows I have seen in a long time. You may recognize Micheal from his youtube Channel “timtimfed”. He has made a lot of short movies and all of them have that use special effects to tell an unique and interesting story.

“The Wizards of Aus” is a story about a Wizard who lives in a “Lord of the rings” kind of a universe and grows tired of the everyday hustle and bustle of thewizarding life. He decides that he wants a quite life in the suburbs. So he travels to Modern day Melbourne to escape his life in the wizarding world. The series shows how he tries to settle in and make a normal life for himself away from all the magic. But eventually his past catches up to him. Now Special effects is a big part of the movie. They have used practical and CGI effects to enhance the characters and they work so well. I am a huge fan of lord of the rings and harry potter movies and so it is great to see this series where characters from your favorite movie. All of them have a hilarious and unexpected twist. It is almost like you are watching a parody of the those movies. Many of the A list Actors like guy pearce(How did they rope him in?), Bruce Spence(Last time I saw him he was beating down NEO in the Matrix trilogy yup the “train man”) and Mark Mitchellare also in the series. They add a lot to the show and make it such a blast to watch.

If you haven’t guessed I really liked it and I give it a 9/10. I highly recommend you to watch this series. It is small and you will miss it when its over.

The Veil Review

Starring Jessica alba, Thomas jane, and Lily Rabe and it isDirected by philjoanou

This story is largely inspired by the mass suicide that happened in Jonestown, Guyana in the year 1977. Around 900 people died including women and children. This movie borrows a lot of elements form that incident but many of the names and dates have been changed for this movie.

In the movie, members of this cult who were following preacherjim Jacobs commit mass suicide. Only one 5yr old girl by the name of sarah survives this horrible incident.

Still after 25 years, Lot of thequestions remains unanswered like how did she survive? why did they all commit suicide? Why were they following jim Jacobs in the first place?

The sole survivor of the mass suicide sarah hope (played by Lily Rabe) receives a letter from Maggie price asking her to join her. Maggie price (played by Jessica alba) is a filmmaker who is trying to investigate incident and wants to make a documentary on the mass suicides.she wants to go back to the place where it all beganand find some answers behind these mysterious suicides. Sarah reluctantly agrees to join her and returns to the scene of the tragedy.

Initially I was fascinated by the story and kind of wanted to know more about the characters and where they are going. Sarah is one of the main characters that the film focuses on but she has the biggest flaws in the movie. She is not well defined in the movie. Foreg: sarah has this premonition about one of the crew members and the next day he goes missing. Shit!!!! Why doesn’t she tell anybody? I like lily rabe and she was fantastic in American Horror story but I wish that her role was better written.

Finally we come to Jim Jacobs(Played by Thomas jane), who is the preacher and the founder of the cult. He is loosely based on jim jones the real cult leader. I won’t say much about his character but i will say this, Thomas is good in this role but the story lets him down but he owns the role quite well. The most screwed up character of the film is the Karen sweetzer’s Character. At one point in the film you are left wondering why is she doin that to her daughter?

My final thoughts on the film guys. It is a horror movie, which tries to tell a story in a new and unique way, but the film looses the “scary factor”mid way through the movie. There are jump scares here and there but it doesn’t work. The Second half of the film is not as good as the first half. The ending is very inconsistent

I give this movie a 5 out of 10 watch the movie on bluray

The Revenant Review

Starring Leonardo di caprio, tom hardy and domhnall Gleeson. This is a story of man in 1820s who is left for dead in the wild after a bear attack. This is not just a story of survival but it is also a story of revenge. Going into this film I knew that it was a 2 and half hour long movie but when the movie was over it didn’t feel like it. That is a another way of say it was very good. It was gripping and made me care about the characters. Director alejandroinarritu has made a gorgeous movie and it is astonishing that he shoot the whole movie in natural light and no artificial lights were used. Actors are very good in their parts and especially LEO. His character goes through a lot pain and at times you are forced to wonder if you were in his place would you have survived? No!!! I wouldn’t have

I want to say more about the movie but I would end up spoiling the movie. This Movie is a strong contender for the Oscars in my opinion.

I recommend you to watch this movie

The Jungle Book 2016 Review

You guys must have probably watched 1967 jungle bookmovie at least once but do you guys know that there was a TV show jungle book it was a Japanese shonen that’s right! Ok let me tell you about it.

As a child growing up in the 90’s, Every Sundays we would get to watch 2 hours of cartoons on DD channel. For the people watching from different parts of the world Inindia (it was a channel operated by the government and it was free)(Also known as Doordarshan). Now this was before cartoon network came to india and at the time, There were no 24 hour cartoon channels like you have now. Sowe would get to watch cartoons continuously, one after the other, for those 2 hours. Jungle Book would air during that time and it was one of those shows that had good characters, solid character development and the theme song still resonates with many of us who come from that generation. It was so popular here thatthey had it translated in many Indian languages. As far back as I can remember every sunday morning that was the routine.

Yes, it was a Japanese made version of jungle book that I was introduced to first, but it was almost a decade later that I saw the 1967 Disney version. I liked that too! Animation and the narrative was a little different but the main story was the same.

So as you I was excited to see the new version of jungle book

This movie is directed by jonfavreau and has an impressive cast of voice actors

Mowgli (Neel Sethi), Baloo (Bill Murray), Bagheera (Ben kingsley), ShareKhan(Idris Elba), Kaa (Scarlet Johansson) Raksha (LupitaNyong’o) and king louie (Christopher Walken)

Many of you would know the plot of the movie but I will give you a snipet of the plot. Mowgli is a young boy who is lost in the jungle after losing his biological parents. He gets adopted by a pack of wolves that look after him and train him to be like a wolf. They soon find out he is a free spirit and adventurous boy. Suddenly share khan comes to the jungle and everything changes.

The narrative of this movie is quiet similar to the 1967 version more or less. It is a little darker as well. I like the characters, especially share Khan and baloo’s. ShareKhan’s first few moments are terrifying and they did every thing right with this character. Edrisalba was perfect for this role. Even bill murray’s voice was a good choice for balloo but relationship between him and mowgli didn’t seem to work as well as it did in the 1967 version. Overall voice acting is very good.

The movie looks amazing, Visually this is how a real mowgli would look if he was living in a jungle. The CGI animals look authentic and real. The movie pulls you in and immerses you in the jungle. Despite amazing voice acting, awesome animation and good talent behind the camera this film fails to capture the same charm that the 1967 version did. That brings me to another point, Mowgli

I liked neelsethi’s work butthe 1967’s Mowgli was innocent and bit of a clueless kid but this mowgli is resourceful and sarcastic. He doesn’t even need a pack give him a few sticks and stones he will be able to defend himself. But that’s just my opinion. The balloomowgli relationship was the best part about the 1967 version but in this one we don’t see the same connection.

Even though many elements have been borrowed 1967 movie, I liked it. They even have the same songs from the movie. But it doesn’t seem to reach the same level as the previous one did. Don’t get me wrong it is a movie, which a whole family can enjoy. I give this movie an 8/10 I wish I could talk to animals. I would love that!

Starring: Thomas Jane, Laurence Fishburne and Ella Ballentine

Before I begin, Let me tell you guys that Thomas jane is one of the underrated actors in Hollywood. It may be because of the unsuccessful string of movies that he starred in or it might be movies themselves were a good whatever the case it is always good to watch him perform.

This is a movie about a girl Isabel who witnesses amurder and tries to escapes from the assassin. She winds up taking refuge in Carter’s house (Carter is played by Thomas jane). The Assassin (played by Laurence Fishburne) follows her and tries to kill her but carter thwarts his attempt. This begins a standoff between him and the assassin.Carter manages to restrict the assassin to the ground floor and holds him off. Now the Assassin can’t leave without killing Isabel and carter can’t let her be killed in good conscience. Assassin wants to get Isabel at any cost so he tries to intimidate carter psychologically into giving her up. Carter being stubborn man that he is tries his best to keep her safe.

This movie was better than what I expected it to be; it has asimple but engaging plot. It is a cat and mouse game between the assassin and carter. It has some cringe worthy scenes. The movie is entertaining throughout but that doesn’t mean that there are no flaws. I mean there are other things that the assassin could have done to end the standoff but he tries to reason with him. I think that is one of the loopholes.

The Background music in the movie it is haunting and adds to the vibe of the movie.It made the assassin more intimidating.

The casting of the movie is also amazing. All the actors in the movie are good in their roles. Laurence and Thomas do a good job in the film. Laurence especially is good in this part as a fast talking, stone cold killer. Its been a long time since I have seen him in a character like this. And I liked it . One of the first characters that you see is Isabel played by ella ballentine.You can’t help imagine yourself being in Isabel’s place. Her character has a sad past but she is sweet and innocent, Ella nails her part perfectly.

The Ending of the movie is good. Certain facts are revealed which makes you go oh crap! Things could have been worst. It is very interesting to see the plot play out. There are exciting twists and turns

I Give this movie 8/10. If you like psychological mind games then this is for you.

Spectre Review

Movie is slow compared to others

This is kind of a grand finale of the Daneil Craig bond movies since this is the fourth movie.

This is in many ways different from other bond movies that we have seen in the past.

Bond is in pursuit of this Mysterious organization, which is behind the all these attacks and crimes in the world.

As all bond movies it takes him all across the globe.

Story starts off very slow but eventually picks up

There are a lot of flaws, I don’t hate the movie but I didn’t like the movie either.

Action in the movie is the same, I mean we have seen so many times in the bond movies, it wasn’t as impactful for me. The bond girls are as always are hot and good eyecandy.

Cons :

Monica bellucci’s role is very really small

For me the Main Bad guy or the villan of the movie is not intimidating enough

It is not a spoiler!!

There were couple of things that bugged in terms of the continuation of the movie “the Car from MI6 travels all the way from London to Rome ”

But of course it is a james bond movie so you could look the other way.

But As I said “This is a different bond movie” simply because we see bond do things that we haven’t seen him do before. This is a very human bond compared to the other versions bond.

Music in the movie, the starting theme which sets up the whole movie is boring and it failed to do that. Throughout the movie we don’t hear the iconic bond theme AT ALL. it was like these guys were sleeping the whole movie and in the end when everything was done then threw the bond theme……..so yeah music is a let down.

The ending of the movie is pretty unique and it is the kind of ending that you will not expect from a Bond Movie.

If you have choice between MI5 orSpectre then I would recommend MI5 over Spectre.

Southbound Review

It is directed by Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner, Patric Horvath and Radio Silence.

This is a horror anthology same as the The Twilight Zone Movie. No, not this one, yes this one. In my opinion this was one of the best anthology film ever made. I saw it, when I was 16, That’s when I started liking these kinds of films. Usually in these kinds of films, there are four to five stories and each one would have an exciting narrativeand a horrifying twist in the end. I liked these kinds of films and if you are like me then you will also like southbound. The same people who have worked on V/H/S movies have worked on this movie so I was waiting for this movie to get released. I had some high expectations from this film.

Thank god that they didn’t go for the found footage style againbecause that would have been really awful. So there are five connecting stories about people who are stuck in a desert highway. Unlike VHS, these stories are connected to each other in one-way or the other. First story is about two guys trying to go home and on the way they see some creepy creatures which are hovering in the air, second is about three girls who are passing through the desert, their van breaks down in the middle of nowhere, a creepy couple invite them to their house and offer to fix their van.Third is about a man who gets into an accident and shit goes down, fourth is about a brother trying to save his sister and the final story is about three criminals who are following a family and then they break into their hotel. I am not going to dive into details because that’s the interesting part of the movie so I don’t want to ruin it for you guys.

I liked the third one andthe final one because they where really well done as compared to the other two. Nevertheless all the stories are interesting. Things happen in this movie, which are really creepy and unnerving. It is suspenseful and fast paced. This movie is not scary, it is horrifying. It forces you to ask certain questions about the whereabouts of this mysterious desert highway. What is this place? Why is this happening? These questions keeppopping up in your mind when you are watching this movie. The more you think about the answer, the location becomes clearer. The writers and directors have done a great job of narrating and executing the film. This movie has all the qualities of becoming a cult classic.There are lots of moments that reminded me of the old Twilight Zone episodes. Another thing that I like was the music.The soundtracks including the main theme are very good, 80’s synthe rock, it works well and fits the story. in between these stories a mysterious voice over the radio would say some ominous things. Almost like he knew what was happening, it added to the creepiness of the movie. DJ on the radio was a really nice touch.

In the month of jan many horror movies came out like the veil, the forest, the boy by the way why do they all have “the” in the beginning did you guys notice that? Ok To be honest I didn’t like any them but I really enjoyed this movie.

I give this movie 8/10 for telling a truly interesting horror story.

Solace 2016 Review

Starring Anthony Hopkins, Jeffery Dean morgan, Abbie Cornish, and Colin Farrell

An FBI agent asks help from a Psychic doctor to track down a serial killer behind the murders. Anthony Hopkins plays the role of “john Clancy” a psychic. He is also the Executive producer of the film. I think his character was trying to be funny and intense but he failed to capture the intensity that was required for the character. Editing of the film is also partly to blame for this, which I will talk about a little later. Jeffery morgan plays the role of the FBI Agent joe Merriiwether. I liked Jeffery from his “Supernatural” days but in this film I didn’t connect withhis character and he is used as tool to push the plot further. I liked Abbie Cornish in her role as Katherine Cowles, She played it well and I can easily say that she is one of the best things about the movie.

Colin Farrell is also in this movie, I can’t say much about his character without ruining the film but I think he was not menacing enough in his role. I did not buy the premise of his role at all in this this movie.

Its was not just the characters but there were couple of scenes which had problems that bugged me for example the scene where Agent Cowles first meets John, she places the Victim files on the kitchen counter and in the next shot they disappear or in the Scene where joe is in hospital in one scene and he is talking and looks like he is going to be ok and in the next ------ Spoiler Alert ------

He dies, now they could have easily showed him dying in the same scene but they did a dramatic cut to the funeral and I think it just didn’t work.

My final thoughts on this film:

Ending that’s what I have the most problem with . So colin’s character wants Anthony’s charater to keep killing his place right; so that means he wants him to take up torch in his place What!!??? He is Fucking 90 years old and you want him to take it further? See this is why this movie doesn’t work. I think the Roles should have been reversed Colin should have played Anthony’s role and Anthony Should have played Colin’s in this way allest the Climax would have worked ok now that I think about it many thing could have worked

Think about!!!! A little sexual tension between him and agent cowles, young father with dead child huh!!! It could have worked

Sherlock the Abominable Bride

Ok so the new Sherlock Christmas special movie is out.Even though it is the next episode of the Sherlock homes TV series,

I was looking forward to the latest Sherlock again since it had been whole year since I saw the last episode. This movie is set in late 19^th century, so it was obvious that I had lot of questions going into this movie. Like for eg ; Why is Sherlock back in 1900s? What happened to the 2014 story ark? And the episode started and it was on……..

. In the progression of the story there is. In fact, the and gives you a chuckle from time to time. To be honest my advice to you is that “there is no use of over calculating the situation and” in the beginning. That another thing about this episode that they bridged them in a very creative and fantastic way that it leaves you thinking “Ohhhhh So that is how this is happening”

Ok I was looking forward to watch the new Sherlock Movie.

I am going to call this a movie because of it sheer running time of 1 and half hour.

So obviously I was wondering Why is this story set in late 19^th century?

What happened to the 2014 Story Ark that we have loved so much?

What the bloody hell is going on?!!!!

If you have not watched the movie then you will have these same questions going in to the movie and that’s normal.

In this movie he sets out to solve the case of the Emilia rikeletti “the Abomidible Bride”.

They did a good job on setting up the story and you get sucked in to the plot early on.

The characters are great!

banter between the characters keeps you hooked

The main story ark is built slowly

never a dull moment

just enjoy the ride

The Premise is very exciting.

You remember the questions that I had they are answered in a way that is very satisfying.

In conclution, as always Sherlock and his mind palace are back!!!! And I really recommend you to see this as soon as possible

I remember watching Peewee’s big adventure a long time back and it had a certain charm about it. I still remember the bar scene were he dances on top of the bar counter in frontof angry bikers. Its been 28 years since we last saw pee wee Harman on the big screen soI thought I would review it and plus Its was released onNetfix so had to review it. Plot of the movie is simple,Pee wee has a chance encounter with joemanganello from True blood. They immediately hit it off so joe invites Pee wee to his birthday party in new york and pee wee travels from fairville to new york. Now joe plays a fictional version of himself in the movie.

Peewee meets lot of interesting characters like the three robbers, weird cave guy and of course the amish people because that is always an interesting dynamic.

My Expectation was that it would be wacky and cartoony kind of movie, which it was but they could have done something better and tried to reach the same level as the Pee wee’sBig adventure did. I mean, We have seen this kind of cliché adventure movies before it is not something new. They played it safe and did not try anything new.

Another thing that bugged me was that they made the film like it was in the 1950’s, which annoyed me, and I felt that could have been updated and brought into 2016 a bit. I know it is meant to be appealing to kids but the scene were the three jocks come in to tell pee wee that they cant practice in the nights anymore’ that annoyed me because nobody talks like that anymore.

Joe manganeollo was amazing and nailed his part. Please somebody give him his own franchise already its time, he did a good job. There are cameos by artists from the previous pee wee show and movies. I didn’t watch them so I really didn’t recognize them.

In this movie pee wee has more than a couple love interests, even though he seems clueless at first.

It is filled with funny scenes that make me laugh. I liked the first adventure and I like this one. Its not a masterpiece but It’s good enough to watch once!

I give it 5/10

Paprika Review

Hi guys welcome back! Just want to say before I start the Review is that this is my first Anime that I am reviewing on my channel and I appreciate.

Satoshi Kon directed it and it is based on yasutakatsutsui’s 1993 novel by the same name. Paprika is one of those films that I couldn’t resist watching. The animationis captivating from the beginning and I liked the starting intro of this film. It is a story of few therapists who are experimenting with the device called DC Mini. With this device they can enterinto a patient’s dream and help them. Suddenly things goes sideways when the device gets stolen and everything becomes chaotic. One of the female therapists Chiba Atsuko who is responsible for this project starts investigating. One of her patients Detective Konugawa Toshimi also helps in her attempt to retrieve the device.

Now why did they make this device? The reason for this device’s existence is pretty clear when we see Detective Konugawa deal with his traumatic experience from his past. So idea isif we understand some one’s dreams we can understand what exactly is troubling them and help them accordingly. Entering in someone’s dream also has its negative side, that is what this film explores. One of the things I liked about the Paprika as a character was that she had no limitations. since she was in the world of dreams she could become virtually whoever she wantedto befor eg she can turn into a fly like a fairy, pinnochio, swim like a mermaid orbe the heroic Monkey king.

Lets come to the part that bothered me most, the first two acts are great but the final act does not go down very well. What I mean by that is even if such a device exists and all the dreams are connected how could it interfere with reality? We as an audience are not given a concrete reason for this. The plot becomes so fantastic in the end that it stops being believable. plus I did not care about the characters enough, that is one the weak points of this movie. Satoshi kon’sprevious works were psychologically engaging but this one only manages engage you visually.

Theanimation in the movie is visually stunning and beautiful. It is very exciting and fun to watch the mind-blowing dream sequences.I liked the music in the movie. I have no complaints about it. One of the underlying tone of the movie is “movies” itself. Other than the fact that our detective dreams about movies, there is a subtle hint in the end of the movie where you see Satoshi Kon’s previous work displayed in the cinema theater. “perfect blue” “millennium actress” “Tokyo Godfathers”

I will give it8 out of 10

This series has become one of my favorite Animation series ever. I have always liked spooky stories, ghost stories and stories about the afterlife in general simply because those stories talked about the unknown and supernatural. I am very surprised that Cartoon Network made series. It’s plot and characters revolve around afterlife and darkness so it was clearly not suitable for children having said that this is one of the best animation series that I have laid my eyes on.

It is a story about two brothers who are lost in the unknown and searching their way out. In this mysterious place they encounter all sort of creatures and people who are weird and just plain creepy. One of the first characters that they meet is the “Woodsman”. He warns them about the ominous figure called the “beast”. Beast is an evil creature in the woods. He is always looking for kids who have lost their way and turn them into oil for his lantern.

It is made by patricmchaleOne of the things I loved about this show is its characters and they arevoiced by well known actors likeElijah Wood as Wirt, Colin dean as greg, Melanie lynskey as Beatrice, Christopher Lloyd as the woodsman, John cleese as the Adelaide of the pasture and quincyendicott, tim curry as auntie whispers. Youngest brother Greg is my favorite character because he is such a free spirit and Beatrix address this fact in one of the episodes. And plus “patato and molasses” is best song ever!!! It is just fun to watch him and colin did a good job in the voice department. I love this tim burton “esk” kind of visual and story telling. I think it hits all levels, it is not only interesting for kids but also engages adults like me. This series gives out a late 18^th and early 19^th century vibe that adds to the charm of the show. The music is clearly influenced by that period in time. You can see that lot of pain staking work has gone behind this show. In fact that it took them 10 years to bring this show to the small screen.

Villian

I am not exaggerating when I say that this show has one of the best villians ever. The beast is very creepy and evil. If you put yourself in the shoes of the brothers the whole reason of beast’s existance is disturbing.You know the series or a movie is going to be good when you see the Villian or the antagonist.

What is this place called “the Unknown”?

Well you have to watch the series to find out but after watching it if you feel you want to talk about just give this video thumbs up and if i get 50 likes in this video I will make another video discussing the unknown and where the brothers are lost.

Rating

If you like Sleepy hollow, Beetlejuice or Corpse Bride then you have definitely like the Show. It is alsoa good choice for binge watching on Halloween nights. you haven’t check it out yet I highly recommend it. Don’t research it too much, just start watching. I give this show 10/10 every time I watch it I notice something new which I missed before.

Staring josh duhamell, malinackerman, Alice Eve, byunghun lee and also heavy weights like Al pacino, Anthony Hopkins, and it is directed by ShintaroShimosawa who was the co producer of grudge and grudge 2.

It is a story of “ben” a lawyer who wants get ahead in life so he goes after a rich and powerful businessman Arthur denning. He builds a case solely based on the evidence provided by Arthur’s unstable girlfriend Emily. The story takes a turn for the worst when Emily is killed and ben is framed for her murder. Back at ben’s home, he and his wife Charlotte are also dealing with the tragic death of his newborn baby. Now Ben has to clear his name and it seems like Arthur denning is willing to do anything to get back the stolen evidence. Oh yeaa……. Al pacino is playing a lawyer again

Judging by the trailer of the film it reminded me of another trailer, tom cruise’s the firm. Even though the movies are different they both gave me the same vibes. Alright so the reason why I watched this movie is because both Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins where in the movie together. To my knowledge this is the first time they have worked together. This movie was slow throughout its running time. Usually One scene would unlock another and that scene would unlock the next one, there was no fancy camera work or great action scenes. But the slow pace creates a good amount of intensity in the movie.

Unfortunately I think the acting in the movie could have been better. there were couple of actors who I think were miscast for the roles. Josh duhmall wasn’t the right choice for this role because there are scenes where he needed to be vulnerable and he just wasn’t convincing enough. The sense of urgency and frustration that was required for the scene was lacking. Another actor who I felt was wrong for the role was “Alice Eve” three reasons

1. She is British, so her accent seamed to leak out in certain scenes,

2. She seamed spaced out in most of her scenes, I understand that she was going for the mysterious vibe but it completely failed.

3. I just did not care about her character

Hopkins and pacino are good in their characters but their roles are very cliché

It is a little underwhelming to see that happen. But one of the strong points of the movie is byunghunlee, he provides the most entertainment in the movie. I think he is one of the underrated actors in Hollywood. The movie does have some un expected twists and turns, which are enjoyable.

This movie was going for the “gone girl” kind of a vibe but it did not fully succeed The movie is filled with intense scenes and exciting plot lines. It is interesting to a point but then it gets predictable real fast.

I give this movie 4/10,

No , nope not this one either, yes this one, they couldn’t find another title Ok so a little back story this movie was originally titled “Shut IN” but apparently they couldn’t find a better title Intruders. I don’t Know!!! Lets continue….

This movie Stars Rory Culkin brother of Macaulay culkin from the home alone movies, Beth Riesgraf, JackKesy yup the vampire dude whos “you know what” falls off in the first season of Strain and Martin Starr from the Silicon Valley, geeks and freaks.

The previous movies which have come before this one titled intruders have more or less bombed on the box office and with the critics alike but could this movie be the one to change that ??? well lets see.

It is a story about a girl called anna. She stays in a house with her brother Conrad who is suffering from cancer. When he dies, he leaves her with good amount of money so that she can take care of her self. One day three men break into her house and try to rob her but little do they know that she has a dungeon. Hunters become the hunted. She hasn’t left her house for 10 years because she suffers from agoraphobia. Extreme Fear of open or public places.

Let me tell you my first impressions of the movie after watching the trailer. The premise was very interesting and it almost seemed like the movie which had tarantinoesk vibe to it. But the movie’s plot does not work. There are certain pivotal scenes where certain things just happen so that the plot can move forward. If you see the graph for the movie it would look like this. It started off well but I lost interest by the end of the film.

The movie is filled with plot holes, I would have ignored them all if the ending would have been good but because the ending was so predictable this movie didn’t work. You keep waiting for this big twist but when it finally arrives it is not as satisfying as it should be.One of the major downfalls of the movie is in the acting department, Beth gives a decent performance but jack kesy who has an important scene in the end of the movie does not give a believable performance. His acting is not convincing enough. Rory’s character goes through a lot of pain but he fails to deliver that cringe worthy performance and in the later scenes he seems to forget that his character is under extreme pain.This may also be because of the writing of the film;some of the lines are just down right stupid. Martin starr plays a cliché wild card who tries to kill anna from the get go. He gives a good performance out of the bunch.

Good twists, engaging dialogue, little bit of Gore, these are the things that you expect from a movie like this but insteadyou get a poorly acted, poorly written movie with a predictable ending. The execution of the film isn’t as brilliant as the idea of the film.

I give this movie 5/10.

Give it try if you have couple of hours to kill.

Before I start with the review of season 4 let me tell you that I don’t know anything about politics and I don’t give a shit about it but this show makes me want care. If you are one those people who haven’t seen this show or are looking for a binge watch a show. Then this is the one! Overall this show has not disappointed me yet. Lets get on with the review.

The Show picks up were the third season left off. Frank is running for office and faces some interesting opponents along the way. The rift between frank and Claire underwood is growing. Claire who has her own ambitions is making moves to put her self in a powerful position. This season kind of mirrors what is going on in the real world with terrorism. In fact this show is known to pick stories from real life political figures and it that in this season too.

The third season was disappointing but this season brings back all the good stuff that I loved in the first two seasons. Deadpool breaking the fourth wall is hilarious but frank breaking the fourth wall is just menacing. Fourth wall breaks, Sudden power moves, manipulation and backstabbing this season is packed with “The good Stuff” the plot is straight forward but after the fifth episode it shifts its gear. Underwoods are under fire from different fronts and this time around it might cause real damage to them. Even the formidable underwoods might be at risk of losing everything they have achieved till now.

There are couple of new characters who join the cast this season. Neve Campbell and Joel Kinnaman. they are very interesting to watch them. Many unexpected characters from the previous season also return.One of the things I like about the show is that It respects the audience and does not treat them like a 12 year old. However, at times the show seems to be wrapped up in its own maze of plots and sometimes it may also seem like the plot is leading nowhere like it happened in the third season.

This show is a perfect blend between journalism and Politics. This season explores how digital marketing, search engine results, videos online influences public opinion. It is very interesting to see how the underwoods destroy everything that they come into contact with.

I give it 9/10 Watch it !!!

This movie is directed by David Tenant.

This is again one of those movies that went straight to video on demand. This is also the first time that I have seen Natasha after a long time in movies, if you were a kid growing up in 1990s you definitely would have seen species. She played a sexy Alien who killed everyone Seriously that movie is awesome but moving on…….

Home invasion is exactly as the name suggests its a home invasion movie. So three professional robbers break into chloe’s place and try to rob her. Chloe and her stepsoncontacts the security company and hides from the robbers. Mike tries to guide her and escort both of them out of the house safely. Since this is a planned robbery mike has a difficult time guiding her through the house.

Ok so there is no huge plot in this movie and it is filled with cliché characters. Sometimes I felt that certain plot points were borrowed from other movies like Jason’s character reminded me of the “operator” from the Matrix Movies. “Get me out of here!!! I need an Exit”.

It has almost the same plot as Panic Room (which was a really cool home invasion movie) but initially this kid Liam Dickinson is really annoying than Kristen Stewart in Twilight!! See what I did there did you seehow I connected the movies ok!!

In addition to that the plot never goes deeper than the home invasion scenario. The whole plot can easily be summarized in a single sentence. However it also has its positives, Natasha and Jason give a believable performance where it matters. You can clearly see that they are really trying to make this movie work. It does have some genuinely entertaining moments. Another thing I noticed while doing this review is that on IMDB’s movie page, Jason Patric is not credited as an actor. I also checked jason’s page and the movie is not mentioned there either so guys if you know the reason why its not there, let me know in the comments section below.

The Ending is a little off,trust me this is not a spoiler but the Kid escapes, gets into a pickup truck and while escaping he hits one of the robbers (Kyra) and she instantly dies. The kid drives off!! That part made me laugh a little. But other than that the movie is ok!! I wanted it to be more intense and layered.

I give this movie 6/10

F is for family is an adult comedy show by Netflix created by bill burr and Micheal Price. It is a story about a lower middle class hard working family set in 1970’s. Before watching the show I kind of thought that this show was aiming to be next Simpson or family guy but the show is not like that at all. It is what I would call a Drama/comedy. The series has a continuing storyline throughout the season unlike the other shows. It is dark, funny and even chaotic at times.

You have all the same characters more or less, Angry dad, Mom with Sweet but Strong personality, Hell raising Kid, the Bully, Neighbor who the dad hates and an Awful boss. Even though the characters were the same I still kind of liked the family.Especially the kids, out of them the eldest kid,kevin murphy’s character stands out. He is the Bart Simpson of this show and justin long gives his voice to this character I wouldn’t have recognize it if his name wasn’t mentioned in the intro. He does an amazing job of bringing life to this character. I loved this one scene, where frank tries to teach kevin a lesson by tricking him into thinking that he is being shipped to Vietnam and has been enlisted in the military. It reminded me a little about my childhood and how I use to get into trouble. Frank, who is voiced by bill burr is a foul mouthed and abusive dad. We have seen similar charcter before in simpsons but some how you relate to frank and root for him in the end. Ok Another thing about this show is that it has a lot of cursing in the show but it didn’t bother me but you can’t really watch it with the family either. Music in the intro was good and I felt like I was in the 70’s. At the core this show it is about family relationships and it has that dark humor mixed with real life problems that we haven’t seen in this kind of genre.Its first season contains 6 episodes, which is short and great for binge watching.

I definitely recommend you to watch this series and I give this Series three Stars and buy it. I hope they don’t ruin it in the next season.

Before we start, you should know that, When this movie was in its editing stage Lionsgate premier stook over the movie and edited the movie with out the permission of the director. They thought they were getting a cop drama movie but the directors vision was different and this lead to the director to disown the film. Now I wanted to the directors work and not his studio edited version of the movie but credit goes to the director because the movie is so well shot that even after the studios came in and tried to ruin it. It is a great watch.Alright So lets get right in to it.

This movie can be divided into 3 parts

First : Isabel’s story

Second : Cop Drama

Third : some other garbage that happens on the side.

In the beginning of the movie we see that Isabel who wants to go to her home. Her brother in law walks her to the subway. This scene seen is very IMP for the Story

Here he gives her a knife so that she can protect herself. When she is in the subway she sees the floating man. Ok so what really happened here is that officer Cullen rapes her that night and she fights back and kills him. After this traumatic experience she suffers from a selective amnesia where the victim loses certain parts of her memory. She replaces those horrible memories with the floating man who she sees in the subway.

Ok so Isabel loves this guy “jose de la cruz” and they are about to get married soon. So since she is gonna be a part of their family she stays with the de la cruz’s house. But after the death of jose she finds out that she is pregnant even though she hasn’t been with him for an year. She breaks the news to the de la cruz family but they just think that she wasn’t faithful and they kick her out of the house. Here’s the sad part because of the social norms in our society the Old lady Olga doesn’t even want to bless the unborn Child but she eventually does. But it is a sad scene.

As the movie progresses you see her interacting with a little girl called Elisa. Elisa is Isabel herself. shestarts seeing her younger self and she even mentions that she liked the name and wanted to be called Elisa. The First time she sees the Spirit is right after interacting with her younger self. The second time she sees it before she sees her younger self being dragged away by her father. The third time it appears with red body and asks her to talk to rocky de la cruz so that she could go back to the de la cruz’s house. The fourth time when it appears in full red body the danger level is at the highest and she defends herself from her father the same way she fought joey Cullen is by stabbing him. She has been a victim of sexsual abuse by the hands of her father for many years which she never revealed it to her mother either. Spirits are a signs, thatdanger is approaching and her fear comes true when she has to move back to her parents house.The same house where she was abused so many times as a child. The spirits are the dreadful reminder of her abusive father and her childhood memories. She is reminded about this painful truth in the final scene.

Now the cop drama story line is pretty simple and straight but Since the Studio executive stretched the storyline it is filled with unwanted nonsense as well.

In the beginning the first thing that I noticed was its a orion picture release logo and how long has it been since we have seen that. Anyways lets get on with the review.

Starring Scott Eastwood, Camilla Belle from 10000 B.C. and Walton Goggins and Danny Glover. Lawrence Roeck directs this movie. It is a story about a civil war veteran named Jackson who tries to save his wife Alexsandra from the ruthless bandits. This is the first film that I have seen of Scott Eastwood so I was kind of looking forward to it. Five minutes into the Movie, the resemblance between him and his father is quite apparent. The plot of the movie is simple; I liked the way the story was told and how certain characters were introduced. But on the way to rescue his wife, Jackson would do things that didn’t really fit his character. Walton Goggins does a great job in his role. He can definitely act and has a few westerns already on his resume so I think he just had fun with this role.

Danny Glover another great actor plays a meaningful role of war veteran from Jackson’s past. To be honest movie could have been done in 30 minutes. They purposely dragged certain scenes to fill the time. I understand that they were going for the Spaghetti western theme with long scenic shots and everything but it was not necessary.

Don’t let the movie’s slow pace fool you it gets interesting when the movie switches gears.

I recommend you to watch the film its worth watching once

Devil of hell’s kitchen is back. The first ep of the 2 nd season is really good. The first season was amazing withvicentdnofrio as Willson Fisk. And this season you can tell by the look of the first ep that they have amped up the stakes.

The episode starts with a chase, he brings down three robbers, he is watching over hells kitchen. Nelson is still dealing with the fact that matt is daredevil.

With Wilsonfisk out of the picture, other gangs in hells kitchen are plotting to take over the void left by fisk. Irish mob gets massacred. And only one person survives he seeks Nelson and merdock to help him.

Now the question is who is killing all these gangs members? Any guesses ??

What are we expecting in this season.

Punisher

To be honest Punisher and Electra these character have not made their mark in the movies but small screen would be a great place to develop these characters and make them more part of the main Stream. Punisher as a character was not appealing to me till an hour ago I watched the first ep of DD so this tells you that the way that the story is told matters and I liked the version of punisher shown in the first ep Ruthless murderer will use any means nessecary to fight crime.

Electra

I don’t know much about the character except the old daredevil and Electra movies that came before. They were not good guys. I hope this version of Electra does justice to the Electra of the comics.

The Hand

If you compare daredevil to the arrow the hand is like League of assassins so it is going to the secret and mysterious organization that DD will have to face eventually.

Daredevil Season 2 Review

If you haven’t started watching the series yet then check out my spoiler free review of the first episode of daredevil season 2. If you haven’t seen the first season then get out of the rock that you are living under and Watch it Right Now! So Lets talk about the 2^nd season. Daredevil is one of those shows that I really love. I was very impressed with the way the first season was done it was gritty, it was raw and the show concentrated on character development a lot. Needless to say I was very excited to see the second season.

so first I will start with the positives. The season starts off with a bang. Grit and the raw quality, which we saw in the first season was carried over to this season as well. The scenes with punisher were very intense and exciting to watch. The first three episodes really knock it out of the park for me.Matt, foggy and Karen, all of them go through a big change in their relationships this season. it is very cool to see where these three characters end up by the end of the season. You remember the hallway fight scene where he beats up like 50 people well they also did something similar this time around. This scene is in the third episode and it is just awesome!

Jon bernthal is great as the Punisher.I like him and want to see more of him in the upcoming seasons. I know that with Jessica jones and luke cage series out marvel is building up for the defender series. I think with punisher they were testing out how the character would do like they did with luke cage in Jessica jones. i think punisher should get his own series too. Alright with that out of the way let me tell you about the things I didn’t like. Electra, well her character was beautifully written but the actor who played the role was not a right fit. I think she was not the best choice for the role. She didn’t really have the charisma as jonbernthal did in his character. For me she didn’t really work as electrabut her character was interesting. Now I know many of you will not agree with me but that is my opinion.

Costumes in the show is one of the factors that I was concered about because I didn’t like the season one suit!.There are changes made to the suit during the show and subtle changes with his mask as well in this season. I like the final version of the suit. I am glad they got the eyes right.

This season is as much about frank castle and Electra as it is about daredevil. Daredevil has a lot on his plate this season with these two around and “the hand” isn’t making things easier. Talking about the hand I will only say one word “Ninjas” that’s it!

Ok so the season as a whole was not bad but it wasn’t as good as the first one. The first three episodes were the best among the whole season. It is a solid season though but for me certain parts felt a little under cooked than others. I loved Punisher, Electra not so much I give this season 8/10 watch it for the punisher!

Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 1 & 2 Review

We have a unique relationship with the TV shows especially the comedy sitcoms. First it was Friends, thenhow I met your mother after that came big bang theory. After its 7^th season, when the humor was just starting to dip, I came across Brooklyn Nine Nine, which was a refreshing change from the shows that came before it.This was the cop show, which was funny, and it was different. Even though we had seen countless cop dramas this show had a mix of both action and comedy.

The show stars Andy Samberg, terry crews, Melissa fumero Chelsea peretti and Andre Braugher.

This Show begins when the new commanding officer, Captain holt assumes command over the police precinct nine nine in Brooklyn. Jake peralta played by Andy is an immature but carefree detective who is set in his ways and does not want to change therefore comes into conflict with his new commanding officer. The precinct has other characters like Amy Santiago who jake has a crush on, Rosa diaz who is tough yet kind hearted detective, Charles boyle,jake’s friend/ weirdo of the bunch, Dt sergeant Terry Jeffords who is dealing with his own issues fatherhood and working on the field. Gina Linetti she is the precinct’s administrator/Civilian in the show. All these colorful characters make up the Nine Nine. It slightly reminded me of TVshows like M.A.S.H and Scrubs which were loosely based on a profession.

In the show Jake’s character is fan of 90’s pop culture movies especially die hard movies. The set up of the series is different because it genuinely includes real world cop scenarios in the show. Some may not feel as realistic as others but nevertheless they are entertaining. Initially I didn’t like certain characters that were there in the show such as ginalinetti and Charles boyles characters. But the show took time to build a their back story and justify them and later on they started to grow on me. Andre braugher is amazing in his performance as captain Ray holt. He brings a lot of authority and direction to the show. Amy Santiago and Rosa diaz both play smart and tough detectives who are as talented as jake. Amy is more competitive than Rosa that’s why she has an ongoing bet with jake in the first season. other detectives like scully and Hitchcock also add dose of laughs in the show.

Character development is good in the show however they went in a wrong direction when they hooked up boyle and gina’s character in the second season.

This is same as joey and Rachel getting together it did not work. However the show lands on its feet because of the Main story ark that has been building up from the last episodes in the second season. Andy Samberg is also the executive producer so you can clearly see his influence on the show but he does not over take the show at any point. It has corky, weird and quick humor, whichkeeps us glued to the screen. Certain themes running gags in the show also works really well, for example Halloween episodes, Pontiac bandit episodes, they are really funny. Since andy was in SNL some of the cast members also pop up from time to time. In fact there are good number of guest stars that make appearance such as kyrasedgwick, Eva longoria, Stephen root, nick cannon and Adam sandler.

One of the things that this show does very well is it keeps it fresh and funny.

I am rating this show based on its first two seasons so I hope the quality of the show remains the same in the coming seasons. Ok WOW!!!! This movie is not what I expected!!! (in a good way). I went in thinking that this is a cop drama but it wasn’t that at all. I really like it when movies do that.you go into the film thinking that its gonna be a certain way and then it surprises you completely! So This is one of those movies.

I always try not to give spoilers so it is going to be difficult but here we go…..

This movie begins when a detective joey Cullen is murdered and his partnerDt. Galban (played by Keanu reeves) is trying to investigate his murder. Mira Sorvino plays the wife of Joey Cullen, who keeps pushing Dt. Galban to find the murderer and bring him to justice. Ana de armas who has worked with Keanu in “knock knock” plays the role of Isabel who might lead them to the person behind the murder. Initially she came off as religious nut case but she is convincing enough in her role in the end. Christopher Mcdonald plays the Lieutenant who wants dt galban to back off from the case.Gabe Vargas and Big daddy Kane have delivered a good performance in their roles. There are couple of story arks in the film and they are told in a very interesting way.

Among the two story arks, the other story ark is much stronger than the cop drama story ark. Right from thefirst scene I was hooked. One of the god things about the movie is that the trailer actually does not reveal much about the story but instead it is sortof a misdirection. Even in the movie, they have tried to distract the audience with the second story ark. But it is all tied up together pretty nicely in the end.Keanu reeves gives a solid performance I mean it is way better than his performance in “knock knock”. The main hero of the film is the story telling.

In terms of the negatives, Dt. Galban’s son story line was not needed at all, I just didn’t get the point of his son’s Phone call in relation to this story. It was not needed at all. Mira Sorvino’s character also did not add anything special. One of the main problems is that Dt. Galban never meets with Isabel haha She is involved in some way you would at least take a statement or something Nope!!! He does nothing till the end of the movie and he doesn’t even call her.

But the ending of the movie is good and this is one of those films that you have to see twice. The second time around you have a different experience altogether. This movie tackles some difficult subjects and what it could do to a person mentally. The story is not perfect but it is a good movie I was invested in isabel and empathized with her.

I give this movie 7/10 and recommend you to watch it!
